There is a significant amount of gold inside the Chiquibul- that is what Boiton Minerals Limited has determined and what the company’s environmental consultant told Love News today. Over the weekend, Love News visited BML’s gold mining activities deep inside the Chiquibul. The trip was facilitated by Friends for Conservation and Development (FCD) who is accusing BML and putting the Chiquibul headwaters in direct threat. The trip was supposed to include a visit to where FCD says that BML built a new road- something that BML completely refutes. However, BML has been found in breach of its environmental compliance plan and the company is currently negotiating with the government. Here again is Senior Reporter Hipolito Novelo reports.
